The National Rugby League has lost out to gluttony again with Israel Folau and Isaac Moses headed for a “much needed” rugby holiday overseas.
Is it any wonder that the same bloke that was banned for rorting the Melbourne Storm salary cap is Israel Folau’s manager?
Your eyes are not deceiving you. Moses happily acted in the systematic cheating down in Melbourne. Why are we so shocked that the humble Folau we once knew has been brainwashed into some sort of money-making cyborg?
Folau can hide behind his religious Twitter posts and his big smile all he likes. But when it comes to business, he is nothing more than a nomadic sporting Judas.
Like Sonny Bill Williams and his liege, Khoder Nasser, Folau has become nothing more than a carcass for Moses to feed off.
Long gone are the days of Folau running around the streets of Minto dreaming of being the next Brett Mullins or Wendell Sailor.
There is financial stability and then there are people like Williams and Folau.
“We made him an unconditional, fully-compliant offer that he said no to,” Parramatta Eels CEO Ken Edwards told The Daily Telegraph.
“Presumably he has had a much bigger financial offer from rugby. We are disappointed.
“We did everything we could to give him everything he wanted. Remembering he was the one who approached us and told us he wanted to get out of the AFL and he wanted to play at the Eels and money wasn’t an issue.
“To end up in this situation a month later where we did provide him with everything he needed and he decided to play rugby … he had a meeting with our head of recruitment Pete Nolan. The bottom line was he decided to pass up on our offer and play rugby.”
No matter what he achieves from here, most people will never forgive him. Whether he truly wanted to play for the Parramatta Eels or not, Folau is fast losing all respect in this country.
In only a few short years, Folau has turned his back on the New South Wales Blues, the NRL, Greater Western Sydney and the NRL again.
You can bet he knows it deep down too. But this ship has seemingly already sailed.
Moses made Folau’s bed and Folau jumped straight in. Now he has to sleep in it.
This is one town you don’t want to burn. Just ask Sonny Bill.
But don’t just blame these guys. Behind them lurking in the shadows are men like Nasser and Moses. The real evil and the biggest protagonists for the NRL moving forward.
